The History of Boxing

Modern day boxing consists of different weight classes, such as super featherweight, lightweight and super lightweight and many more weight classes beyond these.

Believe it or not boxing is rather a old sport. Boxing started in the United States of America until the 1849. And according to www.london2012.com "boxing didn't make an appearance in the Olympics until 1904 in St. Louis". Ever since that boxing has been really huge. There are some boxers that have astounding records. Today boxers strive to be the best. But there are a few things that stand in those boxers way. If the boxers want to be the best they have to take out the best, and they have to train to be the best. That means eating healthy, training every day without any breaks, and they have to have dedication to wanting to the best.

Today there are many different promoters for the fights and some of them are Don King, and Golden Gloves and many more those were just a couple of them. Today there are a few tv channels that are known for broadcasting boxing on their tv station and they are Showtime (SHOBOX), HBO, and NBC those I think are the main tv stations that are known for having boxing.

In my point of view I think that there are many people that have changed boxing as we know it. And those people I would have to say would be Mike Tyson, Floyd Mayweather Jr., Manny Pacquiao and Muhammad Ali, but those are the people in my point of view that have changed boxing. But other people might have their own opinion about it. But who knows there could be other professional boxers that could have changed boxing, but all I can say is that boxing is an amazing sport.
